SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A nursing home care taker is behind bars tonight and being charged with stealing from an elderly couple at Savannah Specialty Care Center.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said Yvonne Winslow took the couple's debit card and used it at several businesses.

Linda Oglesby was breathing a sigh of relief after knowing that Winslow was in jail.

"I can rest easier at night knowing she can't do anything else to them," said Oglesby.

Winslow worked at the Savannah Specialty Care Center where Oglesby's grandparents Ron and Charlotte Miller live. Savannah-Chatham Metro Public Information officer Gene Harley, said Winslow stole their debit card and used it around Savannah.

"She removed the card from the room and went to three different locations," said Harley. "Chu's convenience store, Enmark, and attempted to use it at a Walmart."

With the help of the Specialty Care Center, police identified Winslow as the one using the debit card.

"She has since admitted to detectives she was involved," said Harley.

Linda said her grandparents have lived at Savannah Specialty Care Center for four years and haven't had any problems until recently. She said she was glad police arrested Winslow because she was afraid she would target someone else.

"I just have to see what the nursing home does form here, they have terminated her and pulled her licenses, and as long as things are smooth they will stay there," said Oglesby.

Winslow is in the Chatham county jail and is facing six felony charges including elderly abuse.
