SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The unofficial results are in for the Richmond Hill alcohol ordinance vote and it looks like restaurants will be able to sell alcohol on Sundays.

The Richmond Hill Board of Elections says there were 535 votes in favor of the ordinance and 239 against it.

Georgia Goolsby, co-owner of Beef 'O' Brady's on Highway 144, was happy to hear the news when the votes came in. She and her husband Doug have been leading a push to allow restaurants to serve alcohol on Sundays.

Pastor Carlton Cooper of Bethel Baptist Church, an opponent of the ordinance, says he's disappointed in the outcome of the vote and hopes it isn't one the city will regret, but added he is appreciative of all the people who came out and voted today.

Poll workers said voter turnout was steady all day, exceeding their expectations (see High turnout in Richmond Hill on alcohol ordinance vote).
