SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Several fire departments around Riceboro had to be called out early Monday morning when part of a chemical plant caught fire.
The fire broke out around 3am in what's called a scrubber at the Chem-Tal plant on Highway 17. About 100 workers had to be evacuated and the plant was sealed off for about an hour while firefighters put out the fire.
"It appears the incinerator caught fire, one of the incinerators did," firefighter James Ashdown with Liberty County Fire told us. "The actual fire brigade personnel at the plant is responsible for extinguishing with the water cannons they have on the scene."
There are no reports of injuries.
