Savannah Woman Wins Award from Microsoft

A Savannah woman is getting a national award for her work with the USO. We first told you about Paulette Nelson two weeks ago. See Hometown Hero--USO Volunteer Paulette Nelson.

She's a volunteer with the Savannah USO. Her mission is to greet and send off every soldier deploying from our area. Thanks to your votes online, she's one of five winners in Microsoft's "Above and Beyond Awards," for brightening the lives of our military servicemen and women.

"I can't believe that I'm being awarded for doing something that I feel in my heart is the absolute right thing to do," said Nelson. "Supporting the troops is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. I work alongside some great volunteers and they're out at all times of the day and night by my side, working just as hard as I do. To be singled out like this is very humbling."

Nelson travels to New York City on November 12 to receive her award.
