For weeks, an adorable brown puppy has roamed around Highway 204 and Interstate 95 avoiding anyone and everyone trying to catch her (see Stranded Dog Holds His Ground), but now she roams no more.
Marsha Hargreaves persevered where others failed, finally managing to catch the lost dog. "The bottom line is we got the puppy," she said. "We're calling her Molly for ‘Good Golly Miss Molly' because she was really difficult to catch."
Difficult to Hargreaves, impossible to everyone else; people driving past the busy intersection couldn't help but notice Molly, but every time someone would try to catch her, she took off. "She would just fly away. Just as fast as she could, up to Interstate 95 was her favorite spot," said Hargreaves.
And that meant catching Molly was no easy task. For three weeks, Hargreaves came to the intersection to try to coax Molly to her, but every time she failed. But Hargreaves refused to give up. "I started stopping for 30 or 40 minutes in the morning," she explained.
Then again on the weekends, spending the entire day out there, sometimes 8 or 10 hours at a time. "We were crawling around on our hands and knees," said Hargreaves talking about her and two other women who were trying to catch the puppy.
Finally all her patience paid off. "Our hearts were racing, we could not believe we actually captured her," said Hargreaves.
Now everyone can rest easy knowing that Molly will no longer be running around the intersection. "Everyone who was concerned and worried, like me, would be happy to know she is now safe and sound," Hargreaves said.
Hargreaves took Molly to the Godley Station Animal Hospital where she has been checked out. So far, Molly looks like she is going to be just fine.
