The following has been released by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department:
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police have identified the man who died in Saturday night's crash on Highway 17. He is 55-year-old Roger Ernest Viens, of Bellingham, Massachusetts.
Investigators received information about the victim from residents that lived in the West Chatham community, not far from where the fatal incident occurred.
Acting on this information, police went to a shed located behind a home in the 100 block of Mark Circle. They found a picture driver's license belonging to the victim and confirmed his identity.
