Coast Guard Rescues Woman Stuck in Mud

A Liberty County woman found herself in a very sticky situation. She was stuck up to her chest in mud and had to be rescued by the Coast Guard. But that's just the beginning.

According to witness statements in a police report, she did it to herself, and at one point she was out, then jumped back in.

The area around Jones Creek Recreation Park in Midway is known for its very muddy conditions, and signs are clearly posted saying no swimming.

So when firefighters heard a woman was stuck in the pond late Friday night, they were a little surprised, never having received a call like this.

Once they arrived, they found 36-year-old Kimberly Rozier of Hinesville stuck in mud from the chest down. The police report says Rozier drove her white SUV into the water, then dove in herself.

Firefighters were able to get her out, but once she was on land, police say she started fighting with the firefighters and then ran back into the water, going out even farther and getting stuck in the muck.

That's when she began yelling for their help. But this time firefighters couldn't get to her, so they had to call in the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard was able to pull Rozier out to safety.

According to the police report, two witnesses said it appeared Rozier was arguing with a male in another vehicle before she drove the SUV into the pond.

Rozier was taken to jail but has bonded out. She's being charged with disorderly conduct.
