BRYAN COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - The Bryan County Sheriff's Department is trying to identify the body of a man that was found late Friday night in Richmond Hill.
Detectives taped off a part of Clarktown Road in Bryan County Saturday morning as they looked for clues to help solve the homicide.
Deputies say the body was found around 11:30pm Friday near the intersection Cartertown Road and Clarktown Road by a person driving by.
"A passerby observed a body at the side of the road. The passerby called the Bryan County Sheriff's Department, who responded and discovered a deceased white male," said Micah Ward with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. "The examination of the body indicates foul play."
Deputies say the victim is a white male in his late 20s, early 30s about 180 pounds, about 5'10 with very short brown hair and a goatee.
The man was wearing Nike sneakers, jeans, a red shirt and black jacket. Deputies say he has several tattoos, including a devil and skulls on his back, a marijuana leaf on his right leg and jokers on his chest.
The sheriff's department says his death appears to be a result of foul play, but they are still investigating.
"The crime scene is still being processed. We have a lot of things we have found. At this time we are not sure what is significant and what is not," said Ward.
Investigators hope with the public's help, they can soon put a name to this John Doe.
If you have any information or know who the victim may be, call police or the Bryan County Sheriff's Department at 912.756.2105.
