Burning off holiday calories at the gym

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - What do you after big meals over the holiday weekend? Plenty of people try to sweat off the calories and the guilt.

Staffers at 180 Fitness in Statesboro say their gym will be full on Monday when people return from the extended weekend.

They expect many will have had too many mashed potatoes or desserts and think one workout can make it all go away.

But experts say people who already have a good workout regime can handle the indulgence.

"Even people on a strict diet and workout schedule need a cheat day," said Mike Lacienski with 180 Fitness. "Your body is pretty resilient and it's okay to splurge every now and then."

Lacienski says if you're not already working out, don't try to do too much at once. That will just make you sore and keep you away from the gym.
