Developers of embedded systems interested in designing their applications with Embedded Artists' comprehensive developer's kits can now take advantage of the comprehensive LinuxLink development environment from Timesys. A Timesys LinuxLink Development Center CD will be included in Embedded Artists' LPC3131 developer's kits, providing customers with a free 30-day trial version of LinuxLink as well as full access to an extensive set of Linux training and educational resources.
Embedded Artists' LPC3131 developer's kit enables customers to quickly start development of a product based around the LPC3131 microcontroller. When used in combination with the Embedded Artists developer's kit, the Timesys LinuxLink solution accelerates the development and debug of the customer's Linux platform.
Embedded Artists Developer's Kits
The LPC3131 developer's kit comprises an OEM board and a base board. The OEM board is equipped with NXP's ARM926EJ-S based LPC3131 microcontroller, suitable for a wide range of applications requiring low power consumption, high performance and flexible USB connectivity. The OEM board provides an ideal starting-point for the design of the final target system.
Embedded Artists creates high-quality developer's kits, evaluation boards and OEM boards which are used to accelerate embedded development. The benefits of using Embedded Artists boards are many. The designs are proven in the field and have typically gone through several design iterations. Customers will avoid development frustration and can focus on their own value-added application. Using Embedded Artists' boards is also an excellent way of becoming familiar with a new microcontroller.
Timesys' Comprehensive Linux Solution
Timesys provides a comprehensive solution for customers developing embedded Linux-based products for a wide range of applications, including industrial control systems, medical devices, consumer products and networking equipment.
Besides the award-winning LinuxLink software development framework, customers receive full access to in-depth technical support from the Timesys team of expert Linux engineers, who assist customers in all phases of their product lifecycle, including development, debug, deployment and maintenance. When customers need additional assistance with specific development programs, they can engage with Timesys' Professional Services team to develop the software for all or part of a Linux-based product.
The LinuxLink software development framework allows engineers to build custom Linux-based products for the variety of markets and applications targeted by the LPC3000 family. Customers can choose from the latest GNU-based toolchains enabled with uClibc and glibc libraries optimized for the ARM926EJ-S core. Using LinuxLink, customers select from hundreds of packages and middleware for their custom root file system. Newer versions of Linux components, including the Linux kernel, toolchain, packages and middleware, will be available in LinuxLink as they become available from the open source community and from NXP.
LinuxLink's award-winning build system, called Factory, provides developers with a choice of build environments. Customers can choose the online build environment, which provides an easy-to-use wizard for creating an initial Linux starting image, the desktop-hosted build environment for completely customizing their Linux platform, or both. The desktop version offers more flexibility than any other Linux build platform by allowing users to integrate third-party packages, custom applications and proprietary software. LinuxLink's update service automatically notifies customers of changes to any of the components used in their project.
LinuxLink customers have access to commonly used debugging tools within the Eclipse-based "TimeStorm" IDE. These tools help customers ensure the quality, reliability and performance of their final product. In addition to the availability of technical support when needed, customers have access to a vast suite of documentation and learning resources.
