SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Ronald McDonald House helped celebrate McHappy Day Friday, McDonald's international celebration of children.
Ronald McDonald made a special appearance to help children and their families get into the holiday spirit by lighting their own Christmas tree. Local McDonald's restaurants donated a portion of all the value meal sales today to the Ronald McDonald House.
They say it's important to help those families who need it the most during the holidays.
"Our Ronald McDonald house serves about 300 families a year with the home away from home while their children are in the hospital. So it's important that we keep money coming in from the community and local dollars coming in to keep our doors open and operating," said Nikole Layton.
You can still help out. Area McDonalds are selling "helping hands" with the proceeds going to help the local Ronald McDonald house.
