SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – A mother is behind bars for stabbing her 16-year-old son.

On Wednesday, Victoria Lindsay was arraigned in a Chatham County courtroom on charges of arravated assault.

Judge Lawrence Dillan ordered the 41-year-old to refrain from contactacting her 16-year-son, after police say she stabbed her son in the back Tuesday night.

Detectives say Lindsay's son was trying to leave their house with her car.

"There was a witness that saw him beating on her at the time," said detective Nicole Kohles. "She managed to get the keys for the car away from him and went back in the house. The son went in after her and came back out and she (Lindsay) had stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife."

The young man was taken to the hospital with the knife still lodged in his back.

Angela Boston knows the family. "She probably didn't mean to do what she did, but if your kid is coming after you, I am going to defend myself also," said Boston.

This isn't the first time Lindsay has had problems with her son.

"She has had problems with him over and over again," detective Kohles told WTOC. "There have been several reports where she has called the police to her house because of him being unruly."

In fact, police have been called out to Lindsay's home 14 times.

"14 times, Look how many times they have been there, and nothing happens," said Boston.

This time friends say Lindsay took action into her own hands and went too far.

"She didn't mean to do it, that is her child," added Boston.

Lindsay is charged with aggravated assault and is being held under a $3,000 bond.

Judge Dillan ordered Lindsay to stay away from her son. The boy will now be living at his father's home.

Lindsay's son has been released from the hospital.
