SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's not everyday that you see men running in heels, but on Saturday some men and women strapped on their finest pair and raced for a good cause.
The ladies of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority hosted the inaugural Heel-A-Thon event at the Armstrong Atlantic State University campus.
Men and women took part in the brisk walk to help raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Organizers say it's a fun way to get people of both genders in the spirit of giving back.
"Really our focus in October is breast cancer awareness," said chapter president Kayla Norris. "They get all of the publicity that month and I really haven't seen much for cancer for children. We are going to try to adopt a campus November month and try to do stuff in the years to come and make it a big deal here in Savannah."
All of the proceeds will go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
