SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Someone made a bold break in Wednesday night when they busted the windows out of three Savannah-Chatham Metro police patrol cars.
SCMPD interim chief Willie Lovett said nothing was taken from inside the cars. All three cars were parked at Love's Steak and Seafood on US Highway 17 at the Chatham-Bryan County line.
Investigators are still looking for the person or people who did this. "Undoubtedly it's somebody desperate looking for something I'm not sure what that is, but they took a hell of a chance by doing it," said Lovett.
SCMPD officers are not allowed to take department cars out of Chatham County so the department allows officers who live out of town park in secure places, like restaurants and hotels, along the county line.
Chief Lovett said after last night's incident he may take a closer look at where officers are allowed to leave their cars.
