HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - Many of our friends and neighbors serving our country have been deploying overseas, many have deployed numerous times.
Well a group on Hilton Head Island does their part to give back, giving soldiers a free vacation on Hilton Head Island. It's all a part of Operation R & R.
"We started it in 2008 with the idea of bringing soldiers and marines that have been in Iraq and Afghanistan in the last 12 months and are married to Hilton Head to stay in donated houses and ocean front condos for virtually free," said Dr. Grant Evans, Operation R&R founder.
The Lowery Group is holding a fundraiser for Operation R&R Thursday night from 4pm until 7pm at the Windows on the Waterway on Hilton Head Island. It's a meet and greet with several military families.
Tickets are $20 and you can purchase them at the door.
