SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some of our soldiers from the 3rd ID have made it to Iraq and are ready to take over.

Wednesday, they assumed responsibility of Multi-National Division North from the 25th Infantry Division, out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii in a transfer of authority ceremony. The 3rd ID uncased their colors, a symbolic gesture that they will stay in command until the job is done.

"Today, our uncased colors symbolize a deep commitment by a group of professionals to give our absolute best effort in support of our Iraqi partners and to build on the progress already made," said 3rd ID commander Maj. Gen. Tony Cucolo.

During this deployment, the 3rd ID has scaled back its combat role and will prove more of an advisory support and assistance to Iraqi forces.

This is the fourth time Fort Stewart soldiers have deployed to Iraq.
