SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - There were a handful of municipal races taking place in our region November 3.
It was a close one in Richmond Hill. Harold Fowler came out on top garnering 58 percent with Floyd Hilliard trailing close behind with 42 percent of the vote.
Springfield's mayoral race ended in a landslide. With 86 percent of the votes went to Jeffrey Northway. His opponent Wanda Laning, couldn't bridge the gap earning just 14 percent.
There was a big turnout in Bloomingdale where voters cast their ballots for mayor and city council races. Poll workers say there was a steady stream of voters all day.
The mayoral race in Bloomingdale went to incumbent Wayne E. Tipton. He garnered 65 percent of the vote beating out Mary K. Mitchell's 35 percent.
Voter turnout was also good in Rincon where people cast their ballots for three city council seats as well as mayor. By noon Tuesday, some 300 people had already cast their ballots.
Incumbent mayor Ken Lee will keep his seat earning 69 percent of the vote. Mayor Lee's opponent George Saraf pulled 31 percent.
In Pooler, incumbent mayor Mike Lamb won by a landslide with 73 percent to 27 percent over challenger Charles Archer.
Port Wentworth's mayoral race was pretty close.
Incumbent Glenn Jones faced challenger Robert Henderson. It was a close race, but it looks like Jones will maintain his seat at city hall.
"I'm feeling good. I am not over confident because you know you have these absentee ballots. We counted a few people that we know voted early on my positive side, but we're going to sit back and wait," said Jones. "I learned a long time ago anything could happen so we're going to sit back and wait"
Jones said the race was clearly divided with the north end of the city favoring Henderson and the south end voting for him. Jones said the first thing on his agenda is to unite the county.
