SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Isle of Hope Elementary students took part in Tuesday's National Day of Writing. Their theme was "Right Here, Right Now".

A board displayed all the writing prompts. The prompts were comprisied of what the students were thinking about at that moment, at 9:15am.

"I enjoyed it that we got to spend the day writing because usually we're just sitting at our desks; yet, we don't get to do that much, but this day we got to write and I like seeing what the little kids wrote," said sixth grader Austin Merchant.

"I write stories at home when I'm bored, sometimes they just pop into my head when I'm doing stuff, so this will help me," said sixth grader Ayeanna Tyson.

Some of the younger children drew pictures of what they were thinking and feeling. One of the teachers says the most touching prompt was from a boy who just lost his puppy.
