STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - A Claxton police officer watching WTOC helped solve a string of armed robberies in Statesboro.

Claxton police arrested Tommy Lee King after they say he robbed a gas station at knife point in broad daylight Monday.

Hours later, Detective Barry Barnard was watching THE News at 6 when he saw security video of two suspects robbing a store Friday night in Statesboro.

Police and sheriff's deputies told WTOC Monday the same pair robbed four stores in four hours.

Barnard says he recognized King in the video and called authorities in Statesboro. Officials say King later confessed to the robberies.
