SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Public approval of the President's health care reform plan is slipping. A new CBS poll shows it fell 6 points since July.

On Wednesday, U.S. Representative John Barrow shared his thoughts on reform with the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce. Barrow sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee which has recently approved a version of the current health care bill, which will be debated in Washington D.C.

Barrow and many others say a bipartisan bill is possible, but Barrow stresses the importance of public support.

"The important thing is we get bipartisan support in the county because whether the politicians on each side of the isle are able to get together on it or not, the most important thing is that what we produce has broad bipartisan support in the country," Barrow said.

Barrow has hosted 6 town hall meetings on the issue and three more scheduled on September 5 at these locations:

  • Crawfordville / Taliaferro County
    11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    Taliaferro County Courthouse Square
    557 Broad Street, Crawfordville
  • Warrenton / Warren County
    1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
    Warren County Courthouse Square
    521 Main Street, Warrenton
  • Gibson / Glascock County
    3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    Usry's Diner
    28 East Main Street, Gibson
