SYLVANIA, GA (WTOC) - The Friends of Screven County Animals hope their "Change for a Change" rally can make a difference for animals in their community.
Friday afternoon from 2:30pm to 6:30pm, volunteers will set up at Sylvania's downtown intersections.
They'll collect donations from motorists driving by. They'll use the money to help the Screven County animal shelter, which they consider greatly understaffed and underfunded.
"Animals brought in to the shelter have only a few days until they're put to sleep," said Friends member Marlene Bragg. "There are so many animals because people are not aware of spay and neutering. You need to have your animals spayed or neutered."
They organized in May and have since held a community garage sale and animal dip rallies. They hope to host a benefit dinner in October. For more information on the group, visit www.friendsofscrevencountyanimals.org.
